1337brau, version 1.0

Well, I finally got all the equipment I needed, and created my first beer today.

It’ll be a couple of weeks before it’s ready, but I’m all excited now. It’s going be a pretty boring pale ale beer, made from extract, but I thought for my first try I should do something simple and straightforward so I can learn from it.

I have barley and hops and a grinder from a friend’s father who stopped brewing and sold me all of his old equipment. I am thinking if this brew goes well, I’ll try to make some mead from a great recipe ppatters gave me, and then if that works out, I’ll try to make my own brewing from the barley from scratch… Which will be very very cool.

Today, I’ve actually discovered how much I enjoy making my own stuff… I made some muffins, and then guacamole from scratch, and then some hummus, and then I thought I would go and make my own pasta sauce, it was really tasty… I’m debating making some of my own bread from scratch if I get time sometime of the next month. There is something incredibly satisfying about making this all from scratch… or even just from a kit.

Newaiz, here’s hoping 1337brau brews up nicely. :-) cheers.

It’s just a loop

but it makes me laugh.

Apparently there is at least one other internet I’m not aware of.

Promptergate Part III

Well, continuing my interest in the fact that American politicians are all hypocrites and well… I now present to you Promptergate III, the technical analysis of Promptergate I.

Promptergate II

Just a quicky, apparently the NY Times picked up this story with real short one.

My address? it’s 352 Weisstrasse, January 15th, 2320.

I had a dream about 3 months ago regarding time travel, and I thought it was interesting, but humourously, I never had enough time to flesh out the idea further. Well, last night, my mind helped me out a bit, by having the same dream again with even more detail.

Basically, the concept is that time travel may be possible, but only if the furthest you can go back in time is to the point that time travel was first invented. All of the crazy possibilities that came from this were mind boggling. For example, if a restaurant was truly good, you would never have to make a reservation. Time became essentially another dimension into which you could travel, and thus making the restaurant have a size equal to its volume times the amount of time that it lasts. So, to go to it, you would just have to travel forward or backward in time until you found an empty table. Quite a surreal thought actually.

The dream brought up some really strange questions regarding value of work, and time spent on work. Since essentially, I could take entire "years" off of my job, and still show up the next day. The definition of work itself changed from a "wage-slave" mentality as we have it now, to an almost life of discovery mentality. Since time isn’t a concern anymore, you literally reach a singularity in research. Theoretically you could spend your entire life studying math, and everything you learned has already been "discovered." Life becomes more a gift to be enjoyed, and less a cross to be burdened.

Well, needless to say the dream was very eye-opening after my mind actually was able to get itself around the fact that most temporal paradoxes get resolved when you view time as just another vector dimension that we only experience at a scalar rate. It is just another one of my moments where my mind just clicks regarding something. Such a strange feeling this is.

Oh well, I guess I’ll see you in the future.

Promptergate!

Something really funny, and interesting I found today:

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/10/08/bulge/

Basically, the gist is that it looks like President Bush was prompted during the debate by a personal handler. What makes this particularly interesting is the fact that there is more than just a photo on Salon.com, but if you take a shot from the CNN footage, you can obviously make out something strange on the president’s back.

http://www.electoral-vote.com/images/bulge.jpg

As well, there are apparently clips of the president not talking to anyone in general, and evidence of the president using ear pieces before when making speeches and answering questions. Now, normally I probably wouldn’t mind if this happened, a lot of reporters do similar things. The problem here is that this is supposed to be an independent debate, where the presidential candidates fight off one and one, without secret earpieces.

I just thought this was worthy of propagating one more time on the internet, since apparently the primary new outlets haven’t got the nerve to pick it up yet. Oh, yeah. I got the story from http://www.electoral-vote.com , which is showing that even with prompting, it’s starting to look like Kerry may still bounce back in the election.
