You know, I think I could be very happy with a Canadian minority government.

First, Canada is not going to participate in the multi-billion dollar boon-doggle known as the U.S. missile defence program. Which is really good news.

Second, this budget is actually almost exactly what I was hoping for when it came to the military and tax cuts. Major increases in military spending (which in turn makes us less reliant on the States), and a small but reasonable tax cut culminating in an increase of about $2000 in the basic personal income you have to earn before you pay taxes. (So, everyone on the scale gets the cut, not just the rich.)
As well, it really looks like the gay marriage issue will be finally handled, with a reasonable majority on the "support gay marriage" side. Which is good to see that our country still values having no government supported segregation of the population.
So, needless to say, I’m pretty happy with the state of affairs in Canada today.
