I ran into this mp3/ogg/etc. player today, and I think I know what I am going to get for my new place when I move out west again. I have run into a couple of these styles of players before and I really liked them. The idea of being able to hide my computer with all of my MP3s and have seperate players throughout the house really excites me. Especially when you consider how small the unit ends up being.

Has anyone out there had any experience with these babies? Do they work pretty well? Is there another brand that has better support/etc? I like the fact that this one uses open source software that works on linux, and works with 802.11g and Pandora. So, I do not believe I am going to find a better one out there. However, I could be proven wrong by the more technically inclined readers of my blog.

Anyways, it is really cool.

Stephen Harper continues his war on the free press and an open government. Yesterday, he officially held the first cabinet meeting where he did not tell anyone about it. A list of interesting things he decided now that he has determined that being prime minister makes him God include: He will not speak in the National Press Gallery unless the desk is replaced with a podium. Cabinet meetings are supposed to be secret, “It’s constitutional.” And, of course, my favourite:

So apparently, he decides what is a question of substance. Which, naturally would not include anything that questions his god-given right to rule with an iron-fist over Canada.

This man needs to be told he is in charge of a minority government, not a dictatorship.

Harper is really starting to get a bit scary with the methods he is using to ensure complete secrecy from his government.

Heaven forbid he actually not hide his real motives from the electorate. Even his own MPs think that Harper is being way too secretive and non-responsible to the electorate.

Umm… Actually, significantly more than 50% of British Columbians voted for some form of PR. To be exact 57.69%, of which more than 77 electoral districts had more than 50%.

Canadians want PR, regardless of whatever silly pundits who are worried that people’s desires might actually be assuaged believe.

Now, I am a Catholic and I have a lot of respect for the church and holy sacrament of communion. Yet, apparently, the Supreme Court Justice Scalia… Not so much.

You should not be flipping a bird in church, especially after mass. This is a pretty solid truth, regardless of whether you are frustrated or not. Obviously the whole “go in peace” thing went over by Scalia’s head.

(3/30/2006) edit: After some discussion with some people, I have decided to tone down the rhetoric in this entry. I have severe issues with Catholics who miss the whole peace part of Catholicism, and naturally am willing to state it more clearly and bluntly. However, since so many people (friends and otherwise) feel that I am being too heavy handed in this blog, I have changed the title, and corrected the problem.

I do not believe what Scalia did was proper or correct in any such way. As such, I do not feel he is a good representative what it is to be Catholic, in his actions at the very least.
