What is this Bullshit?

The NDP was for proportional representation…. and then they actively work to bar the Greens from participating in debates on TV.

The NDP was for working with other parties to achieve higher goals… and then they refuse to work with the Greens and Liberals to try to satisfy Kyoto.

The NDP was for liberal values… and then they work more with the Conservatives to achieve less than any other progressive party.

The NDP is for justice… and now they are against it.

The NDP was against the war in Afghanistan…. and then they vote against setting a deadline to end it.

Why am I donating money and voting for a party which is just a wing of Harper’s Conservatives? As soon as I can call them, my money and votes are going somewhere else until they stop being Harper’s playthings, and obsessing over the Liberals. Tommy Douglas had a great vision for Canada, too bad Jack Layton and Company had to ruin it in exchange for the few pity votes he will maintain.

Honestly, I hope each and every blogging dipper follows me after what the official NDP did today. They do not follow the values of Tommy Douglas. They do not follow for justice, liberalism, or anything else. All they seem to care about is what the Conservatives care about: Votes, votes and more votes.

Well, I won’t support a party who is willing to sacrifice their soul for votes, and I promise you, neither will many of my friends.

Facebook is going bad.

Now, facebook lets pretty much anyone in, and the site has been changed to a style which is actually more difficult to use. So, basically the little brats and trolls are all showing up and filling the place with garbage and useless accounts.

I am now seriously considering leaving and perhaps even trying to start up a university only system (I know, work and honestly how would I get people to join?) again to maintain the exclusivity and perhaps prevent all of the garbage that seems to turn all of these good sites into crap. Facebook was actually really nice when it only allowed people who were mature enough to get into University, and basically started to go further and further downhill as it opened up to everyone.

Now, the trolls, the babies, the idiots, and pretty much what destroys most of the internet commons are filing into Facebook and slowly making it more and more difficult and useless.

SA was able to keep these problems down by making it easy to be banned and cost to join. Perhaps with a similar method a new facebook/friendster/myspace/livejournal-esque site could maintain the same level of quality by preventing people from creating bs joke accounts if it is going to cost them, and allowing free membership to people who have proven that they have some reasonable level of maturity (and make it possible to ban them if they start to do bs crap.)

Sadly, I love to keep things open and allow everyone to join, but it takes very few people to destroy the commons, especially if it costs them nothing, and facebook is slowly becoming another example of this. Perhaps if something could be built that uses facebook’s original exclusivity, and SA’s payment/ban method then a good networking site could be built which will allow everyone, and prevent all of the crap that makes them  bogged down and useless.

Just my thoughts.

Now, this is positive advertising

It is too bad we don’t see more ads like this. It has a clear message and is positive.

Unlike so many of the attack ads we seem to see more lately.

Ad design: Wedge Issues

Start from black fade to a close-up of a wedge sitting in a large rock.

Voiceover

A wedge is a valuable and simple tool.

Hammer comes down very solidly on wedge

Voiceover

Each time the hammer hits the wedge,  the rock becomes weaker.

Hammer comes down again hitting the wedge, you see the wedge move significantly.

Voiceover

Eventually, due to the constant pounding the rock cracks…

Hammer comes down, and object splits into two.

Voiceover

and breaks into pieces. Helpful, if your job was to break up the rock.

Camera pulls back slowly and you see the rock was Canada.

Voiceover

Not helpful if your job is to keep the rock whole.

Screen blacks out. Single Canadian flag slowly appears waving gently.

Voiceover

Our government’s actions should unite Canada, not divide it.

It’s about time someone reminded them of that.

Say no to divisive political games and say yes to Canada.

 —

Basically made this because I am sick of the American negative ads that have been released lately (outside of an election season no less), and the fact that one party is proud it has a warroom dedicated not to Canada, but purely to partisan politics.

I wish I had the time and resources to make this ad, or an ad like it. I am tired of seeing ads about why other parties are so bad.
